Question About Prints

Tue Aug 4, 2009, 9:40 AM
I don't make a lot of journal entries but I did want to ask y'all something. What exactly are the point of prints? I've been getting a lot of "Joe Schmo requested this deviation as a print" notifications and I'm kind of confused. Do people uh, REALLY want printed photos of my smelly face in costumes? Seriously? What are you going to do, mount them on your wall? Put them on the fridge? Or are prints something else entirely that I'm not understanding? (And do I have to ask $$ for them? AUGH I AM SO CONFUSED.)

I just really want to know why my photos keep being requested as prints, because it just seems SO WEIRD to me! I don't know whether to be flattered or freaked out that people I don't know are trying to put my schnoz in a frame in their living room. I'm warning you, it ain't gonna fit.

Hey, so I just wanted to give you a heads up...I hate to say this, but it turns out I might not be coming to Katsucon after all. I'm getting wrapped up in the whirlwind of post-college life and between time and money am getting really hesitant to commit to conventions right now. I know we had the big Mermaid Melody group planned, and I hate to drop from it since I started it...but that's why I'm saying this now and not in two months. If you still are interested in doing the group, please go ahead and feel free to find someone else to be Lucia. I just can't promise it will be me. Sorry :(

Honey honey honey! Do not worry about it at ALL! Your life and your finances are so much more important than silly Katsucon, and quite honestly, if we postpone the MM group it would be a huge weight off my shoulders since I'm also pressed for time. I haven't bought any fabric or materials for her yet, so I can just plan it for another time. Plus, I'd much rather make it so I can wear it with you anyway <3 So don't worry, this works out for both of us!

Awesome. Part of me is sorry not to get to see Katsu, but I really think it will be for the better. Plus I'm just so into theater right now I don't want to change my focus, and seeing as it's (in theory) my career that adds extra weight. It's for great new friends like you though that I have so much trouble taking the step to say I'm on a cosplay/convention "hiatus" or something, but who knows what the future will hold once I'm a little more grounded in post-college life! Best of luck at AWA(?) and keep in touch ;)

Oops, I think I meant AUSA. DERP. >_>

Ahh, lady windaria its girls like you that give guys like us (false :p) hope!!!... your ryoko wouldn't happen to need a kagato would it? (sorry had to try...) lmao
:iconwindaria:
Oh shush shush! I'm always open and willing to meet and take photos with other Tenchi Muyo cosplayers! If you see me at a con, don't be afraid to come up and say hello :3
:icondrakedupree:
I'd love to go to a con, my friends & I are trying to find one near Virginia but i'm scared to death a noob like me would be eaten alive!!! any tips for a first timer?
:iconwindaria:
Oh, Virginia has so many cons! Nekocon is in VA Beach this weekend, and AnimeUSA will be in Arlington in two weeks (I will be there). There's also Katsucon, which will be held in Washington DC on Valentine's Day weekend.

Honestly, conventions are incredibly welcoming events, and everyone is just there to have a great time and meet new people. There's so much to see and do, and as long as you've got a friend or two with you, you won't be as overwhelmed and nervous. :)
:icondrakedupree:
Ah, thats wonderful to know! time to do some some research & see if i can come up with somthing then. wish me luck! hope to meet you :)
