I don't update here as much as I should, but I wanted to post one of two costumes I made for Anime Boston in 2009.
This is Hermione de Borromeo, one of the side characters from the anime Romeo X Juliet, who is introduced as Romeo's fiancee. She's kind of the opposite of Paris, who was Juliet's suitor from the original Shakespeare play, and ends up being one of those characters you kind of feel sorry for, because... let's face it, the title ain't Romeo X Hermione.
I made this gown to help promote the series at the convention, which had just been licensed for North American release. There was a lot of lie-on-your-back measuring work involved because I had to make each petal even all the way around. At the time I was making this, I knew almost nothing about the character, I just really loved the dress and the gorgeous mint green fabric I got to work with. Now that I've seen the show in its entirety, I'm glad I made it! It's a very interesting twist to the original story. And they gave Juliet a spine, which was also nice!
The Romeo with me is my friend Mike. He was a good sport.

NOTE: Costumes and photos are not up for critique. Keep DA cool and respect the request of both artists involved in this submission!
