I don't update here as much as I should, but I wanted to post one of two new costumes I made for Anime Boston a few weeks back.
This is Hermione de Borromeo, one of the side characters from the anime Romeo X Juliet, who is introduced as Romeo's fiancee. She's kind of the opposite of Paris, who was Juliet's suitor from the original Shakespeare play, and ends up being one of those characters you kind of feel sorry for, because... let's face it, the title ain't Romeo X Hermione.
I made this gown to help promote the series at the convention, which was just licensed for North American release. There was a lot of lie-on-your-back measuring work involved because I had to make each petal even all the way around. At the time I was making this, I knew almost nothing about the character, I just really loved the dress and the gorgeous mint green fabric I got to work with. Now that I've seen the show in its entirety, I'm glad I made it! It's a very interesting twist to the original story. And they gave Juliet a spine, which was also nice!
Is this an old anime? It'd be really cool if they're liscensing old titles...

Happiness in stories is at most only a couple of lines at the end. The epitome of boredom. Now, show me a magnificent tragedy! A cataclysm of tears from which not one of the players is saved, and to which a happy ending never comes!
What sort of fabric is that? It's a bit odd, but this picture makes me thirsty. XD

Loving the fabric though, it looks a little shiny with the lighting, but the color is fabulous <3

Casa photographs SO WEIRD sometimes. It's matte in natural lighting, but in flash it goes all party strobe on me. :V
