I spent a long time avoiding Macross Frontier when the hype was at its apex because it seemed to be all about TACKY HOOKERS IN SPACE, but my interest piqued earlier this year when I saw this design for Sheryl Nome's Final Stage figure. I didn't even realize it was Sheryl at first, but I thought it looked so lavish and fun to make, so I plugged through the whole series in a month so I could know more about the characters and their story. And oh man, I'm so glad I did, because Sheryl ended up being one of my favorite characters from ANY anime ever. Once I finished the movies, I knew I had the motivation to make her!
Sheryl's friendship and support for Ranka is probably my favorite thing about the whole series, and I knew it was a longshot, but I really wanted my BFF to do these costumes with me. A little pep talk and a couple of drinks was all it took! DOESN'T SHE LOOK ADORABLE? ;___; I am the luckiest Sherururururu ever. <3
We had a blast wearing these at AnimeUSA, where we were invited as guests and did a bunch of panels and ate kabobs all weekend. Yay!
Big thanks to Lionel for the fun and the photos!
